Getting to The Den
From Galway City
Take the N59 west toward Clifden. Drive through Oughterard, and Maam Cross to Recess (about 60km or 37 miles). Turn right onto the R344 and drive through the Inagh Valley (12 Bens on your left, Mauumturk Mountains on your right) about 15km (9 miles) until the N59. Turn left on the N59 and drive about 9km (5.5 miles) past Kylemore Abbey to Letterfrack. The Bards Den is in the centre of Letterfrack village, on the left if you’re arriving from Kylemore Abbey.
From Westport
Take the N59 south and southwest through Leenane to Letterfrack (about 50km, 31 miles or 45 minutes). The Bards Den is in the centre of Letterfrack village, on the left if you’re arriving from Westport.

The new M6 Motorway makes it easier than ever to get to west Connemara, reducing the drive from Dublin to Galway to under 2 hours. In Dublin, look for the motorway signs that say “The West”.
